Male Survivor Group
For men who have survived sexual abuse or assault, the silence can be deafening. Society's expectations of masculinity often make it incredibly difficult for men to speak about their experiences, leading to years of carrying anger, guilt, and shame entirely alone.
You do not have to keep this secret anymore. The Male Survivor Group at North Star Counseling and Trauma Specialists is a dedicated, confidential space for adult men to find support, connection, and understanding.
What to Expect in the Group
We know that it can be scary and overwhelming to even think about attending a group like this. But we also know from years of experience that it is not as scary as you think—and it is profoundly healing.
In this group, you will meet other men who understand your experience like no one else can. Led by a trauma-informed clinician, the group provides a structured, safe environment to:
- Break the Silence: Talk about things you may have never felt safe enough to say out loud before.
- Deconstruct Myths: Work through the fears, stereotypes, and old narratives that society or the abuser placed on you.
- Address the Impact: Understand how the trauma has impacted your daily life, your self-worth, and your relationships.
- Find Relief: Address the heavy burdens of anger, guilt, and shame to find genuine relief.
A Powerful, Healing Environment
This group is powerful. It can be hard work, but it can also be a place of unexpected camaraderie, lightness, and even fun as you connect with others who are reclaiming their lives. You will learn healthy ways to cope and discover how to live free from the horror of sexual abuse.
If you are also seeking one-on-one support, we offer specialized individual counseling for male survivors to complement your group experience.
Absolute Privacy and Trust
We understand that confidentiality is paramount. Our Minnetonka office and our secure virtual counseling platform provide a completely private environment where you can speak freely without fear of judgment or professional repercussions.
