Group Counseling
Individual therapy is a vital part of the healing journey, but there is a unique and profound power in healing alongside others. Group counseling provides a therapeutic environment where you can connect with people who truly understand what you are going through because they are walking a similar path.
At North Star Counseling and Trauma Specialists, our group programs are designed to reduce feelings of isolation, provide multiple perspectives, and offer a safe space to practice interpersonal skills and vulnerability.
The Power of Shared Experience
Trauma, shame, and confusion often thrive in secrecy. When you sit in a room—whether physical or virtual—with others who share your struggles, the burden immediately feels lighter. Group therapy helps you realize that your reactions are normal, your fears are valid, and your healing is possible.
Our groups are led by experienced, trauma-informed clinicians who ensure the environment remains emotionally safe, respectful, and constructive for every participant.
Our Active Group Programs
We currently offer specialized groups designed to support specific communities and needs.
Male Survivor Group
This group is for adult men who have experienced sexual abuse or assault. It provides a confidential, supportive space to work through fears, stereotypes, guilt, and shame with other men who understand like no one else can.
Gender Exploration Group
An ongoing support group for adults who have questions about their gender, identify as transgender, or want to explore gender-related topics. We provide a safe, inclusive space to discuss transitioning, coming out, family dynamics, and self-discovery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to share my story in the group?
No. You are never forced to speak or share details you are not comfortable sharing. Simply being present and listening to others can be incredibly healing. You control your level of participation.
Can I be in individual therapy and group therapy at the same time?
Yes, absolutely. Many clients find that group therapy is a powerful complement to their
individual counseling, allowing them to practice the insights and boundaries they are developing one-on-one.
